I have never read poems before this book. I never really found them interesting but this book showed me how powerful poems can be. Which is why I’ve written Singapore Sling (Book Review).
This book is a collection of 12 amazing short stories. Short stories can be really powerful! You enter into a world with such little information, and so much imagination. This book in particular has beautiful short stories. They are unique and heart touching. Author has a way with words, because I felt these stories and I felt them hard. All these stories are connected in the sense of purpose, but are different at the same time. All of them are somehow connected to Singapore, and the fact that I have visited the country made it more exciting. When I read the prologue, I feel in love. The prologue itself is so powerful and meaningful. It left a mark. It talked about how we judge people. How our brain is tuned in a manner that we cannot trust any other soul.
Some author can use a thousand words, and yet not engage a reader’s heart. While this book did that brilliantly. I was living with the characters and that tells a lot about a book. Characters are well sketched. Stories are versatile and independent. The language is simple and engrossing. The cover does not do justice to the brilliant story.
Overall, I rated this book a 3.5/5 and is recommended.
I hope you liked my Singapore Sling (Book Review). I like reviewing books and reading them. But with time I have realised that buying every book is not possible. I am here to suggest read worthy books to you. Stay tuned for more and I would love to receive any feedback you want to send my way.
